Melbourne Rooftop Bars

Melbourne Bars – Best Rooftop Bars

Melbourne is the leader in Australian bar trends. It all started when bars went into lane-ways, they went from lane-ways to underground, next they became completely hidden, but now they are going up. Melbourne’s rooftops are becoming inundated with fabulous and trendy drinking spots. There is no better way to spend an afternoon (or evening) looking over Melbourne’s skyline, cocktail in hand. So when the weather warms up, don’t go underground, get on to one of Melbourne’s rooftop bars.

 1. Rooftop Bar – 252 Swanston Street, Melbourne

It may not have the glam points of its neighbouring bars downstairs, being a somewhat ramshackle, garden decking style bar on one side, and a concrete rooftop turfed with fake grass and scattered with deck chairs on the other. But wow, what a view! The seventh storey setting is right in the heart of the CBD, affording sparkling skyline views, glittering stars and buzzing with planes, helicopters and late night office workers in adjacent tower blocks.

 2. Madame Brussels – 59 Bourke Street, Melbourne

As you are elevated from the cement world we live in you arrive at Level 3. The elevator doors open and it's like you're seeing life through rose coloured glasses. Madame Brussels' Main Parlour Room is grassed for your comfort. Our rather fancy terrace looks over the east end of marvelous Melbourne. Church spires, grand old theatres, and of course the turrets of the Windsor Hotel are your cityscape. Recline on a divan as your waiter brings you your Pimm's No. 1 - relax, go on, relax on the Terrace; enjoy splendid company.
